Editor’s Notes: Following on from the launch of its head-turning sneaker range last summer, Iceberg has unveiled an equally visually arresting silhouette for SS20. Dubbed The Drip, the new sneaker combines the brand’s Italian flair and penchant for vibrant colors with the rebellious spirit of the youth tribes that adopted the brand in its early beginning.

Designed by Iceberg's creative director James Long, the sneaker reimagines a classic running silhouette by incorporating unusual construction details such as a puffy leather tongue overlay and a unique lacing system that wraps over the side of the sneaker and fastens on the tongue with a drawstring closure. Sitting atop a Vibram sole, the upper makes heavy use of leather and nubuck overlays that are set against a mesh base. Finishing off the design, a layer of transparent polyurethane is cast onto the toe and tongue overlay, giving the effect that the sneaker has been dipped in and dripped on with wax.

The new sneaker was unveiled on the runway at London Fashion Week ties in with the collection’s overall theme, blending pop-art influences and hyper colors with luxe streetwear aesthetics. Alongside the sneaker, the luxury streetwear brand also debuted its collaboration with contemporary British artist Peter Blake, which is the first in a series of collaborations set to launch in the near future.

The Drip sneaker will drop in four colorways for €440/$647 in December. In the meantime, hit the button below to keep up with Iceberg on the ‘gram.
