Double Tap to Zoom

Kim Jones knows his way around an unexpected collaboration. He was the mind behind the Louis Vuitton x Supreme run and the Dior Homme x Jordan Brand sneakers. So when Jones went free agent last year, leaving Dior after nearly a decade, it was only a matter of time until the tapped-in designer found some new way to surprise.

And surprise, he has. First came the news that he’d be creative directing a high-end sub-label of Chinese outerwear brand Bosideng. Now he’s collaborated with the ultra-luxury hotel chain Aman on a full range of ultra-luxury travel staples.

It’s a perfect pivot for someone like Jones. As designer after designer falls like a domino into positions at mass-market brands — Galliano to Zara; Marni alum Francesco Risso to GU — Jones is sticking to what he knows best: making incredibly high-end products for rich people.

Sure, the $990 black T-shirt or a pajama set totaling $3,505 may look absurd from the window-shopping masses' vantage point, but Jones has rarely left his luxury perch. And honestly? That $1,545 Aman x Kim Jones blue colorblock windbreaker is the cleanest thing he’s designed in years.

It helps that Jones also, apparently, rarely leaves the Aman ecosystem: the collection drew on his “journeys across more than 30 Aman destinations,” per the press release. Impressive, not least because a stay in an Aman hotel can run upwards of $4,000.

This is no post-Dior “divorced dad” midlife crisis. If there’s one thing wealthy people love more than not blinking an eye at a nearly $1K T-shirt, it’s wearing said tee while staying at the hotel chain printed on its care tag, designed by someone who unapologetically leans into luxury.
