Authenticity is in short supply today. But one way to keep it strong in the fashion game is for labels to reflect where they come from – whether that’s meant more abstractly, through a particular moment in time, or via a more physical definition.

Upstart Portuguese label, Litoral, takes that second concept and runs with it to produce a highly contemporary, subtle aesthetic for its second collection: "Discoverers of Tomorrow," fresh for SS16.

The collection's title references Portugal's shoreline and its seafaring, adventurous past. Unsurprisingly, the SS16 collection makes heavy use of navies, naval patterns and light, breezy cuts. Strong pieces include Litoral's cream and navy striped crewneck sweat and shorts, or the Oxford shirt with subtle detailing on the rounded chest pockets.

All of the brand’s garments are crafted locally in reputable suppliers using premium fabrics. And, with Portugal being one of Europe’s premium producers of contemporary fashion and fabrics, many fabrics Litoral uses are produced exclusively for the brand, such as their 100% cotton jerseys.

A literal translation of the English word "littoral," meaning a region lying along a shore, peep Litoral’s seafaring SS16 collection, above, before copping some of their summer threads direct from their new online store.
