NBA star Luka Doncic is officially part of the Jordan Brand family. This was announced on the brand’s official site and social channels. Doncic, who is currently leading the Mavericks with 29.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game, was previously an unsigned sneaker free agent coming into his second year in the NBA, and was rumored to be signing a multi-year deal with the Swoosh’s subdivision brand.

The second-year player has been wearing Jordan Brand footwear on and off the court this season. Most recently, Doncic was spotted wearing “What The” Nike Air Jordan 4s and the CLOT x Nike Air Jordan 1 Mids while on the sidelines. It is currently not clear which shoes Doncic will be wearing as a Jordan Brand athlete, though it is likely to be various PE versions of the Jordan 34.

“It is exciting to join such a talented roster and being given the privilege of defining the next generation of the Jordan Brand,” says Dončić. “Michael Jordan was a hero of mine growing up, so being able to represent this iconic brand, especially as a kid from Slovenia, is an honor.”

Michael Jordan also had some nice words for the Slovenian, stating: “Luka is a phenomenal player, and at such a young age. He’s demonstrating skill it takes many guys years to develop. It will be incredible to watch him continue to advance in the league.”
