The Next Great Miu Miu Sneaker Is a Miuccia Prada Classic (EXCLUSIVE)
The tao of Miu Miu lies not in the now and now in the then. It's a fluid exchange of Miuccia Prada's influences drawn from across modern garment-wearing history, entangling '70s geek-chic, '90s slacker-core, '00s tech futurism, and the trim tailoring of our not-so-distant future. It sounds heady but is actually quite classic, which is what makes Miu Miu so good. All these disparate cues, yet the end result is just darn good clothes.
For Fall/Winter 2026, Miu Miu debuts a new sneaker, seen here in imagery provided exclusively to Highsnobiety. This is quintessential Miu Miu: modern, retro, not quite either.
Seen amidst crepe wool flares and navel-high jackets, the new Miu Miu sneakers are offered both a low-top lace-up and knee-high boot. And that's only to start. They wear suede and and gem appliqué and technical mesh and soft grained leather; they feature a snub toe box that's kinda squared-off but also not; their sole is simultaneously flat and ridged thanks to unexpected rubber "spikes."
It's all-new but also bears a trace of the Prada America's Cup, another prescient moment proving Miuccia genius (first truly major designer sneaker? Check. Relevant nearly 30 years later? Check).
That these uncategorizable sneakers debut alongside crumpled baby-doll dresses, fur-trimmed aviator hats, and boxy nappa leather handbags while still feeling like part of a cohesive whole is testament to the vision of the house's founder.
Miu Miu's in-house footwear has steadily expanded over the past several seasons beyond the flat shoes that it helped popularize — though it still produces those, and produces them expertly at that — to include everything from hybrid loafers to thick running sneakers. Like the mainline collections, the stylistic touchstones are disparate but unified by a confidence recognizable in Miu Miu's splashy colors and textures.
These are objects as sumptuous as they are approachable but, crucially, they're also new objects, not retreading familiar terrain as much as they are pushing forward into newness. And in this realm, Miu Miu remains peerless.
