A leather bag is always an investment, but Nanushka is changing the fashion industry one day at a time with its emphasis on vegan leather – both from sustainability as well as a style angle.

For Resort 2022, Nanushka is experimenting with unconventional materials associated with the 1960s Italian modernist movement Arte Povera (Poor Art). Basically, art should be free from the restraints of conventional practices and movement.

By combining minimal silhouettes with geometric shapes, Nanushka practices origami, but not with paper – with vegan leather. The folding box bag is ideal for everyday wear and is perfect for traveling as it can be expanded, folded, and packed as you wish. Now that restrictions are finally lifting, perhaps the tote will become our new go-to.

For a pop of color, the Resort 2022 collection and the bag arrive in orange, green, pink, and blue options, adding an eye-catching element to Nanushka's usual arsenal of tonal hues. Of course, it also arrives in black, brown, and beige if you want to play it safe.

Vegan leather has become increasingly popular in fashion, with plenty of brands ditching real leather for synthetic materials due to its cruel nature. As the industry continues to change, plenty of luxury players have ditched fur and other animal-based fabrics, and Nanushka is paving the way for smaller labels to really make a difference.

If you're looking to treat yourself to a new bag ahead of the new year, the origami-inspired tote is currently available online at Nanushka where it retails at €645, alongside the full Resort 22 collection.
