Editor’s Notes: Sneaker customizer Jake Danklefs has put together the dad shoe to end all dad shoes by combining the New Balance 990v4’s upper with the exaggerated tooling system of the king of chunky sneakers, the Balenciaga Triple S.

Conceptualized by @freddiemade, a frequent Highsnobiety collaborator, this custom job brings together two iconic sneakers in one package. The 990v4 is the latest iteration of the popular New Balance model that has become synonymous with the normcore “dad” aesthetic, while the Triple S has been at the forefront of the chunky sneaker trend since it shot to popularity a couple of seasons ago.

In addition to @freddiemade’s grey pair, Danklefs has made three other pairs, combining different Triple S soles with various 990v4 uppers. The sneaker has been playfully dubbed the “New Balanciaga” 990v4 Triple S. Check out all versions in the gallery above.

And after you’ve flipped through the images, courtesy of Jake Danklefs, be sure to let us know your thoughts on the project in the comments.
