Editor’s Notes: After consistent rumors and teasers, we now have word of an official release date for the Nike Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard 3.0” thanks to Swiss retailer Titolo. The sneaker will be released on October 26, after seeing a limited pre-launch at atmosCon in Tokyo, Japan at the beginning of the month. This will be the third “Shattered Backboard” release following the "Shattered Backboard 1.0" dropped in June 2015, while the "Shattered Backboard 2.0" followed in October 2016. There was also a satin women’s version, which dropped in May 2018.

The name “Shattered Backboard” comes from a moment after Michael Jordan’s rookie season, in the summer of 1985, when he played in an exhibition game in Italy. Jordan, wearing the orange, black, and white of Stefanel Trieste, hit a dunk so hard he shattered the glass backboard. Check out the famous moment below.
