Editor's Notes: Alright, it's time we said it how it is – 2023 is the year of the Zoom Vomero 5.

While the sneaker isn't quite enjoying the spectacle that Nike may have expected when rumblings of its return first surfaced, its mainstream exposure is steadily rising with colorways that capitalize on difficult-to-kill trends; it's only a matter of time before the boom comes.

The Zoom Vomero has had an interesting journey – it catapulted to huge popularity through Samuel Ross' A-COLD-WALL collaboration which offered a total of four colorways alongside a limited-edition run of 1/1s for friends and family of Ross.

Following that release, the shoe received a general release pack that perfected for Spring/Summer before fizzling out.

Now it's back; Nike's drip feeding easy-wearing colorways that walk the line of caution so as not to be too bold too quick.

For those looking to inject some metallics into their sneaker rotation, this upcoming pair of perfect. Dubbed "Photon Dust/Chrome," the palette utilized dulled greys and white to build a foundation for a shiny metallic silver Swoosh to shine, stealing the spotlight with ease.

Perhaps, for this shoe to truly excel, we need more radical takes akin to Ross' earlier work.
