As a self-proclaimed running geek, Ciele Athletics x norda is ticking all the right boxes for me.

Born out of a mutual admiration for the outdoors and exploring it, the Canadian duo’s second collaboration is everything you’d expect from two activewear labels currently at the top of their game.

The Gravel Collection — as it’s titled — is said to pay homage to the gravel roads that comprise the universe of limitless distances many runners call a second home, and one that plays to both brands’ individual strengths.

First up is footwear, which features a limited-edition take on norda’s 001 trail shoe — a silhouette recently remixed by Parisian label Satisfy.

This time around the sneaker is doused in pops of gray and soft tan, with a pop of more vibrant orange resting just above the midsole, where Ciele’s signature motif is also housed.

The 001 — which was dubbed by norda the first sneaker to feature both woven Dyneema fiber on the upper when it was first launched last year — also boasts Vibram underfoot and a Megagrip outsole to tackle the toughest of terrains.

Naturally, the collaboration also features Ciele’s bread and butter: headwear. The Montreal-based label’s GOCap arrives in a co-branded limited-edition colorway of earthy tones to match the collaborative 001.

Available on both norda and Ciele in limited quantities, the Gravel Collection isn’t only a meeting of two brands who share a passion for exploration, but one that expands the worlds of trail and road running.

There’s often more than first meets the eye when two brands unite, which is certainly the case here.
