Gearing up for the release of Ready Player One, Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new featurette, including narrations from author Earnest Cline and director Steven Spielberg.
Packed full of references to sci-fi films from the '80s and '90s, the new trailer sees Spielberg and Cline discuss their past experiences in cinema, before touching on themes such as dystopian societies.
The pair also discussed how their collaboration came about. "I suddenly saw a future, that Earnest Cline – the writer of the book – envisioned," says Spielberg. "It wasn't that far away from what I think is going to happen someday."
The film is set in 2045, where nearly everyone spends most of their time in a virtual reality system known as OASIS, created by an eccentric known as James Halliday. When Halliday passes away, he leaves his fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire planet.
