Brand: Mountain Research x Reebook
Release Date: September 23 exclusively via Mountain Research, September 27 globally on Reebok's site
Editor’s Notes: Reebok's Beatnik continues to make strides as the unsung gem of cozy footwear, hosting many impressive renditions from quilted glories to furry feets.
After spidery and fluttery spins from Pleasures and NEEDLES, respectively, the Beatnik sandal is now ready for a dose of the Mountain Research treatment.
Fresh off a Club C linkup, Reebok and Mountain Research reconvene for a Beatnik collab that essentially looks like an elevated version of granny's favorite slippers.
Seriously: Mountain Research's Beatnik flexes a smooth leather upper in a warm oak brown hue topped off with a delicate embroidery design. In the end, it looks as if grandma's house shoes got a luxe update.
And to be clear, I'm not knocking the elevated house drip vibes. Feet, those things we walk on daily, deserve to enjoy the finer things in life, too.
It's no secret that Mountain Research founder Setsumasa Kobayashi loves the great outdoors, evident with his utilitarian designs like the 100-pocket Parasite Jacket recently revived under his formerly defunct General Research label.
So, it's not surprising that Kobayashi naturally preserves the Beatnik's gorp-worthy sensibility. Beloved model signatures like the treaded rubber outsole and adjustable cushioned ankle strap remain within view for the duo's third linkup.
Mountain Research's leather Beatniks aren't the only leather slip-on sandal in the game, but it's undoubtedly a rotation-worthy player.
Easily one of Reebok model's best takes, Mountain Research's Beatnik sandal is an indoor and outdoor flex, packing alfresco delicacies with the coziness of maw maw's home shoes.
