Editor’s Notes: With Halloween just around the corner Dominic Ciambrone aka The Shoe Surgeon has pulled inspiration from perhaps the most iconic (and rarest) Halloween-themed sneaker of all time, the “Freddy Krueger” Nike SB Dunk low. For this release, Ciambrone doesn’t get too fancy, translating the Dunk Low’s key details almost 1:1 to the Nike Air Jordan 1. A knit base in red and green stripes stands out against blood-stained tan nubuck overlays.

Rumor has it that the original SB Dunk was meant to be released in 2007 but had to be pulled due to legal issues. The shoe never dropped, with most pairs being destroyed, making the samples that survived all the rarer and some of the most valuable Nike sneakers in existence.

Check out The Shoe Surgeon’s homage above and watch for the sneaker to drop on Thursday, October 31.
