There’s nothing more zeitgeisty in footwear today than the chunky sneaker. In the last year, a laundry list of brands released their take on the silhouette and the style continues to be as popular on the streets as it is on runways.

One of the brands on our radar is Skechers. From Balenciaga’s Triple S, whose design unquestionably references the D’Lites, to our current climate in fashion that champions irony and nostalgia, the Skechers D'Lites have made a comeback.

It’s no surprise, then, that Skechers is gearing up to release the D’Lites 3.0, an updated version of the classic D’Lites, this fall. It’s a trend-driven take on the original that features an oversize, chunky outsole and comes in a striking black-white-and-green colorway.

“I like to look adventurous, so I always start by taking my sneakers on a journey through as much dirt as possible. When they're fully toasted, I top them with a fresh pair of crisp Trueys.”

Marie Basque

There is no one way to wear them, and the message here is individuality—as it should be if you’re alternative and bold enough to rock Skechers in 2018. To further that point, we enlisted the help of influencers Simon Kaiser, Marie Basque, and Luca Julika (featured in these images) to get a better look at the D’Lites 3 and to get a sense of how to wear them.

"The colorway and form is what I like best about the new style. I would wear them with an oversize T-shirt and track pants."

Simon Kaiser

“The new D’Lites remind me of trekking boots, which I really like. I’d wear them with some loose pants that overlap the sneakers a little and a tight-fitting top, or a light-green or classic black A-line slip dress with small straps.”
