A collaboration between iconic watchmakers Swatch and streetwear legends BAPE is in the works, according to the Japanese label’s Instagram feed.
The collaboration comes as the Swiss watchmaker’s new BIG BOLD line launches, with watches influenced by more contemporary trends and less of the minimal aesthetics the brand is known for.
On the design front we know the BIG BOLD designs boast a distinctive 47mm watchcase with a slightly curved glass face. Beyond that, details are withheld.
Known for its distinct collections with cutting-edge artists, Swatch instigated creative collaborations with well-known names since the mid-1980s including Grems, David LaChapelle and Amanda Lepore, Keith Haring, Kiki Picasso, and Alfred Hofkunst. While the brand has worked with fashion labels in the past (see: Vivienne Westwood in 1992 and 1993), this is the first time the horologists are working with a label grounded in streetwear codes.
Stay tuned for more info as it comes in.
