Nike's Shockingly Good Foamposites Came From...a Video Game?
As random as some of Nike's collaborations seem, we often get pretty great sneakers from the Swoosh's unexpected linkups. With the drink brand Jarritos, the brands designed Dunks that look good enough to sip (alongside actual Jarritos beverages). And how could we ever forget the time Ben and Jerry's delivered one of all-time most hyped (and tasty) Dunks?
In a move that's sure to pique the interest of sneakerheads and gamers alike, Nike has joined forces with the iconic fighting video game Tekken 8 to create an actually good Nike Foamposite One shoe.
The eighth installment in the famous Tekken video game series was released at the beginning of the year and now has its own Foamposite sneaker for the gamers to flex during Tekken sessions.
The Nike Foamposite One collaboration sort of resembles the "Eggplant" colorway — topped with Tekken touches, naturally.
The Foamposite sneakers received a croc-skin-like overlay atop the signature wavy mold boasting purple-ish blue gradients. The eye-catching detail nods to the jacket worn by Tekken's main character Kazuya Mishima.
Bear with me, as there's more Tekken-ness to drool over. Tekken 8's logo joins the Foamposite's one-cent motif on the textured tongues. At the same time, a huge "FIST" graphic strikes the translucent outsole with some lightning bolts.
The release of Tekken 8's Nike Foamposites is a highly anticipated moment, set to take place sometime in the fall. But perhaps we could see the exotic spins sooner, seeing as Nike's official pics are now out in the world.
Who knows. While we wait, how about those COMME des GARÇONS pairs, Nike?
