The first trailer for The Mist TV series has arrived, based on the Stephen King story of the same name. The 10-episode psychological thriller adaptation centers on a small-town family that is torn apart by a violent crime.
In King's original 200-page novella, the mist rolls into town, bringing with it supernatural monsters. However, the trailer suggests that in this version the effects of the mist could all be in our heads. As one character puts it, "That's what it does. Screws with your mind."
The adaptation also expands on the story's one setting location, exploring the whole town's reaction to the mist and introducing us to characters in a church, a shopping mall, a police station, and a amnesic solider alone in the forest. As the mist comes, the family's isolation becomes even more pronounced and the entire town descends into chaos.
The Mist premieres June 22 on Spike.
In other news, The Fifth Element is returning to theaters for its 20th anniversary.
