January is fast approaching and the forecasters reckon we’re in for a chilly few months. But fear not, because that means that skiing season is just around the corner. If you’re an adrenaline-junkie and high-energy winter sports are your thing, then you’ll want to take a peep at The North Face’s latest film, Reflections. Featuring Swiss snowboarder David Babacar Djité, as he smoothly slides down the slopes, the story is all about ‘embracing reflections, to enjoy the light within’.

Two years ago, Djité debuted his film Eudemonia, shot during lockdown. It captures the beauty of snowboarding and the vulnerability that he’s left with when facing dangerous routes. After a brief hiatus, the snow surfer is back at it, conquering slopes and bringing a bit of creativity to snowboarding. In an exclusive look at Fabian Fuchs’ cinematic piece ‘Reflections’, the Zurich-born rider takes a spin down the mountain in two key capsules from The North Face (perfect for the snow), the Gore-Tex ‘Sidecut’ freeride collection and the new Gore-Tex Denim collection.

“With Reflections, I hope to make snowboarding more accessible, allowing a broader audience to appreciate the sport’s beauty and artistic potential. The film is an opportunity to create a new narrative in snowboarding, one that encourages the exploration of fresh ideas and expressions beyond conventional norms. This project aims to break free from restrictive expectations and open up a space where creativity in snowboarding can thrive,” says Djité.

For some snowboarding is just a sport, but for others, it’s a canvas for self-expression blending physical and mental states in an attempt to find their true selves.
