It wasn’t long ago that we brought you a guide to which sized luggage you’ll need for every type of getaway you have coming up, from overnight backpacks to long weekend keepalls. The latest bag trend does not belong in this round-up. But while the wave of ridiculously tiny bags may lack functionality, you can bet they’ll be making the fashion elite look like steezy AF giants all 2019 long.
Less a bag and more of a wallet/necklace hybrid, these tiny vessels are popping up in street style round-ups all over in recent times. And, should you have logged onto Instagram at any point in the last month, you’ll likely have come across Jacquemus‘ particularly meme-worthy minuscule women’s handbags.
The French label’s early men’s offering is also highlighted by impractical but undeniably beautiful neck pouches, from round coin purses to slightly larger (enough for a couple of cards and receipts, at least) leather rectangular options embellished with silver-tone Jacquemus branding.
But this tiny accessory game does not begin and end with Jacquemus. Everyone from Virgil Abloh’s OFF-WHITE, Japanese leather specialist Hender Scheme, and Scandi favorite Acne Studios are all members of the impossibly small bag gang, each offering their own on-brand takes on this cute little storage solution.
And, if the thought of dropping in excess of $150 (or in the case of Balenciaga, around $900) on a bag that holds little more than your loose change, fear not. Other labels are offering a happy medium, with small but functional options by the likes of NaNa-NaNa, 1017 ALYX 9SM, and Innerraum offering a few more square inches for your buck.
