Last September we received our first look at the upcoming documentary on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, titled Pretending I'm a Superman. With much of the skating world now expectantly stoked for the film, a premiere has been announced for February 29 at the Mammoth Film Festival in Mammoth Lakes, California.

Pretending I'm a Superman explores the story of how skateboarding became mainstream and how it has stayed that way ever since, largely thanks to the introduction of the X-Games as well as the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in August 1999. The first installment in the famed video game series shocked both the gaming and skating industries, selling nine million copies upon release. Subsequently, a sizable portion of Pretending I'm a Superman is dedicated to the skaters and developers who worked together to create the best-selling game.

While delving into the development of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, the documentary also takes a look at the world of skateboarding today. The story is told through never-before-seen interviews with influential skaters such as Eric Koston, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, and Tony Hawk.

Pretending I'm a Superman comes from former Neversoft producer Ralph D’Amato and award-winning Swedish director Ludvig Gür, in association with The Berrics. You can learn more about the documentary by watching the trailer below and heading to this dedicated website.
