UGG Helps Up Our Winter Wardrobe

  • Written byJason Meggyesy

Summer is overrated. Well, let me clarify: summer dressing is overrated. It could be partial coping as we all mentally prepare for the cold months, but allow me a moment to state my case.

During peak summer heat, everything is way too hot, humid, and sticky, shrinking our wardrobe to a fraction of its capacity. Relegated to T-shirts, shorts, and the occasional pair of trousers (if you’re willing to brave the inevitable seat-area sweat), the warmer months aren’t exactly ideal for “putting it on” — at least not to our fullest potential. When the temperatures drop, that’s when you can really turn up the heat on your fits.

It’s simple logic, really: the more good clothing options you have at your disposal, the higher the likelihood of assembling a good outfit. And no other time do you have the chance to cycle through your best pieces than in the winter. The designer sweater you’ve been waiting to debut? Bring it out. That vintage bomber you purchased in anticipation of cooler days is finally ready to see the light. Oh, and don’t forget about those tailored pants you’ve been saving for the right time of the year. With our arsenals fully loaded, the shapes and combinations of looks become more dynamic, making the style more individual to each wearer.

As a proponent of curating practical winter outfits without losing any feed-worthy edge, UGG has helped me bridge the gap and keep things interesting. A heritage brand known for its unrivaled care and craftsmanship, the iconic footwear brand has a plethora of options in its catalog that can add intriguing aspects to your sartorial rotation — while keeping you warm, too.

Tasman Weather Hybrid

The Tasman Weather Hybrid stands out as the holy grail of aesthetics — ready for the harsh elemental forces heading our way. This mid-cut boot combines a sleek waterproof upper with a thick, well-constructed sole that features Spider Rubber® Pods for enhanced traction, blending thoughtful utility with signature UGG energy. The boot’s two-toned color scheme also makes it versatile enough to match different parts of your outfit — a huge plus when deciding which layers to add as the wind chill picks up.

Tasman GTX

If those feel a little too utilitarian for your personal preference, have no fear, there are other tastefully technical options at your disposal. Paring back some of the overt performance elements, the Tasman GTX offers practicality through a more understated lens. Designed with waterproof suede and an internal GORE-TEX membrane, this silhouette is a stylish sleeper agent that can be slotted in with a range of cold-weather ensembles. Boasting a Vibram® outsole, the Tasman GTX is an all-in-one silhouette that masterfully balances fashion and functionality.

Classic Mini

Still, there’s no need to get too far ahead of ourselves, as the most turbulent times are still a month or so away (fingers crossed). In this transitional phase, the focus can lie solely on the looks rather than on building a fire fit to combat the icy conditions. The Classic Mini is an UGG staple and works in just about any situation you need it to. Dressed up, down, or somewhere in between, the miniature rendition of the brand’s OG boot adapts to your stylistic will — personally, I’ve been loving the tucked-in-pants trend, but to each their own.

Ascot

To round out my selection, the Ascot style is a hidden gem I’ve found that matches the energy of the upcoming season. The loafer is sophisticated and subtle, offering a uniquely elevated essence that showcases the brand’s dynamic design prowess. Potentially an understated addition to a more refined outfit — a nice cardigan, a good pair of slacks — the Ascot stands as a mature take on the classic UGG ethos.

Now, winter might not get all the hype — and rightfully so in most cases — but it is where style has room to flex. With UGG anchoring the rotation this season, cold-weather dressing becomes more exciting instead of obligatory. Layer by layer, the possibilities unfold before our eyes.
