Vans' Muted Moccasin Skate Shoe Was Stitched to Shred
Moccasins that shred? Vans says so. Vans Skate Half Cab Moc Stitch is equal parts moccasin, equal parts skate shoe.
Well, it might not be an exact 50/50 split, since Vans' signature skate steez will always take the driver's seat.
On the bottom, the mocc-ed-out skate shoe wears a thick Vibram outsole with Vans' grippy DuraCap underlay, made for real-deal shredding. So far, business as usual. The moccasin-of-it-all comes into play up top with the shoe's moccasin-inspired stitching and all-suede upper, which gives the shoe an earthy aura not typically associated with the ruggedness of a standard skate shoe.
Though to be fair, the Skate Half Cab Moc Stitch shoe isn't really a traditional skate shoe. And not just because it has an upper inspired by what many would classify as a slipper.
The Vans Skate Half Cab Moc Stitch, available on the Vans website for $140, hails all the way from Vans OTW, the skatewear brand's elevated premium line that churns out sublime iterations of the brand's signature skate shoes.
But it's not just makeshift moccasins on the Vans moodboard. In fact, many of Vans' most stylistically charged drops come from the curated Vans OTW universe.
That stunning burgundy Chanel-inspired Old Skool sneaker? Vans OTW. That well-studded LX Authentic 44? Yup, Vans OTW. None of this discredits the stylistic power of Vans’ mainline, though, which is doing its big one elsewhere as well. Quite literally, in the case of the Vans' Speed LS, so cushy in its disposition that it possesses an almost couch-like quality.
OTW or otherwise, Vans can make a muse out of just about anything.
