Migos is an American hip-hop trio from Georgia. Formed in 2008, they are comprised of rappers Takeoff, Offset and Quavo. The three were raised together by Takeoff’s mother (Quavo’s older sister).

Their breakout single “Versace” was released in 2013. The trio have each made their own impact on the hip-hop world through their solo careers, appearances, inevitable beef with other rappers (namely Joe Budden) and remixes.

Quavo and Offset are cousins and Takeoff is Quavo’s nephew. All three were raised together by Takeoff’s mother (and Quavo’s older sister).

On November 1, 2022, Migos rapper Takeoff died suddenly in Houston during a private party. he was 28 years old.

2008

Migos is formed by Takeoff, Offset and Quavo. They are originally called Polo Club.

2011

The group’s first mixtape titled Juug Season is released.

2012

Migos release mixtape No Label.

2013

Migos release single “Versace.” The single becomes their breakout – finding even more recognition after it’s remixed by Drake later that year.

Migos release mixtape Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas).

2014

Migos release No Label 2.

The group sign to 300 Entertainment.

Single “Fright Night” is released.

2015

Migos release their first single “One Time” from their upcoming debut album.

The trio release their debut album, Yung Rich Nation. After a show at Georgia’s Southern University the group and 12 members of their entourage are arrested for marijuana possession. Takeoff, Quavo and half of the entourage are released from custody. Offset and the other six remain. While in custody, Offset is charged with battery and inciting a riot. Offset was later released after eight months in custody.

Migos leave label 300 Entertainment to go independent.

Migos release new mixtape Back to the Bando despite Offset still being held in custody.

Single “Look at My Dab” gains worldwide attention after the signature dance move goes viral.

2016

Young Rich Niggas 2 is released.

Kanye West announces he has signed Migos to GOOD Music – the group later claim they weren’t affiliated with West.

Migos release the first single from their new album. The single, titled “Bad and Boujee,” becomes the group’s first number one single in the US.

2017

Migos’ second album Culture is released.

Migos appear on Quality Control’s compilation record Control the Streets Vol. 1.

Migos release “MotorSport” as the lead single from their upcoming second studio album.

Migos appear on Katy Perry’s “Bon Appétit.”

2018

The trio’s second studio album, Culture II is released.

Migos partner with TIDAL to release a new documentary, Culture, about the group’s journey to fame.

Single “Bad and Boujee” and album Culture are nominated at the 2018 Grammy Awards.

The Washington Avenue Armory sues the group for “inciting a riot” at the venue three years prior. Six people were stabbed and one attendee sued the band after suffering facial injuries.

2019

Migos release new track “Stripper Bowl.”

Migos take to Twitter to offer fans to the opportunity to vote for which project the trio release next; Culture III, Y.R.N. 3 or No Label 3.

2020 - 2022

Migos give us a masterclass in hip-hop jewerly.

On the first of November 2022, Takeoff has died after being shot in Houston. Early reports indicated that an altercation had unfolded during a dice game in which both Quavo and Takeoff had been in attendance.

2023

On February 22, 2023, Quavo posted a music video for his song "Greatness". A song written in dedication to Takeoff, it has been frequently interpreted as confirmation that the group has broken up. However, as of today, no official statement has been made.

On June 25, 2023, Quavo and Offset reunited for a tribute performance dedicated to Takeoff at the BET Awards 2023.
