The first official trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther is finally here! Arguably the fan favorite from Captain America: Civil War, the revengeful and extremely rich African King of Wakanda takes the front seat in a new action-packed trailer. Like other Marvel films, Black Panther will undoubtedly be a visual spectacle in IMAX, but that isn’t whats driving the hype around the film. It’s the cultural impact.
Black Panther serves as the first black Marvel super hero film in their cinematic universe as well as using it’s first black director, Ryan Coogler. It also featuring an all-star cast of black actors including Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Kaluuya, Angella Bassett and many more. As the cherry on top, the movie gets a February 18 release date, which falls on Black History Month.
Both fans of Marvel and the black community are all ecstatic about what this film represents culturally, and the impact Black Panther will have on Hollywood for casting minorities for lead roles in blockbuster films in the future. Also, because T’Challa looks like such a badass in that suit! The Internet is already celebrating the release of the film with countless memes and hilarious GIFs.
