Exciting news for cinema fans, Stanley Kubrick's genre-defining, career-defining, era-defining sci-fi mega epic 2001: A Space Odyssey has been given a glossy hi-definition remastering ahead of a full cinema re-release this fall. As anyone who's been lucky to catch the film in a theater will tell you, this is the only one way to really experience the full scope of Kubrick's vision. The bad news? At the time of writing it's only planned for the UK, as it's supported entirely by the BFI (British Film Institute). Still, if it does well, there's every chance the new version will travel overseas.
