Editor’s Notes: After turning its ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG into a map of the NYC and Tokyo subway systems, atmos leans on New Balance to honor those cities' most recognized yet grossest inhabitants: rats!

The atmos' New Balance 2002R, appropriately dubbed "Rat," appears in various shades of grey as a nod to Shibuya's scampering critters that scour the city for food, whether it's your half-eaten leftovers or blackened dinner L.

Unfortunately for those rat-opposed people reading, the rodent inspo doesn't stop at the color scheme. The atmos x New Balance 2002R "Rat" also features a fuzzy fur material and a mouse footprint design on the upper — you know, just a few extra details to really capture the essence of those four-legged species wrapped around your feet.

Hints of aquatic blue trickle throughout the sneaker on places like the tongue and heel, conveying Shibuya's sewage systems — aka yet another yucky aspect of the city life that happens to be a rat's main hangout.

Then, to round off the vibes served by the long-tailed, squeaking species, a rodent silhouette joins the New Balance and atmos logos on the sneaker's insole.

Your skin might be crawling with the thoughts of these rat-infested details. But, you must admit that the atmos x New Balance 2002R's rodent touches are undoubtedly impressive. From the fur toe to the actual colorway, atmos literally turned the rat into A1 kicks!

For those who are still team anti-rat after this, look out because atmos' New Balance rodent breed will be hitting the streets soon.
