Cardi B has teamed up with fast fashion retailer Fashion Nova to pledge a total of $1m to those in need of financial support during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

In a video on Instagram Live, the award-winning rapper announced that the #FashionNovaCARES initiative will give away $1,000 every hour until May 20 to those who are under severe financial strain due to effects of the pandemic.

In a caption on Instagram, Cardi B wrote "Many of you are struggling to pay bills, feed your families, and take care of your overall essential needs. #FashionNovaCARES & I are giving away $1,000 EVERY HOUR until we’ve given away $1 MILLION DOLLARS to those directly affected by this crisis. Tell us how the $1,000 can help you during these times."

In the accompanying post, Cardi B tells her fans that there's no shame in asking for help sometimes, but clarifies that these cheques are intended only for those who really need it, as she ends the video by saying "don't be lying so you can lend your f*cking boyfriend some money."
