In late 2025, Converse announced the return of its First String line of high-end Chuck Taylor sneakers. Fast forward to 2026, the first batch of fancy Chucks has arrived.

We've seen the Chuck Taylor remastered, reimagined, and even Rick Owens-ified many times over the years. But the First String line presents the iconic sneaker at its best.

Seriously. The First String sneakers get the best materials and even the best technology. From there, we end up with these super-luxurious, high-tech Chuck Taylors wrapped in creamy black leather. The newest pairs also include equally buttery All-Star patches and crisp contrast stitching.

But underneath the fine leather jacket, the Chuck Taylor model is honestly a technical dream. Its stacked soles feature not one but two kinds of cushioning, Converse's CX foam and then Nike Air.

One of the great things about the First String shoes is that they bring Nike's famous tech to Converse's most iconic sneaker. In a way, it's kind of an Air Max sneaker, just in the Converse Chuck's body.

Expect the same core materials, including Vibram outsoles, to appear throughout the collection, even in the other Chuck Taylors from the first drop.

Indeed, in addition to the black leather versions, Converse also cooked up a First String "Snake Foil" and "Embossed Croc" Chuck Taylor.

The newest Converse First String sneakers are now available at select retailers, including Lapstone & Hammer, which offers them for $250.
