Later today, Gorillaz will be sharing a new song featuring Pusha T and Mavis Staples which will premiere on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show. But ahead of the track premiere, Zane has shared a snippet of his interview with frontman Damon Albarn in which the singer drops a mind-boggling bit of info: that he’s sitting on a whopping 40 Gorillaz songs created for their highly-anticipated new album Humanz. Listen to him below.

According to the previously released tracklist, we can expect 19 songs to appear on Humanz, which is a far cry from Albarn’s full output. “I’m just sort of slowly going through all tunes that sort of didn’t work out and finishing them,” he says in the chat, before going on to say that “I can stay in the game for at least another 18 months, I reckon.”

Gorillaz are fresh from announcing a traveling exhibition titled “Spirit House,” which will allow fans in select cities to tour a real-life recreation of their newest music video using mapping technology. Get the details on that right here.

Humanz is out on April 28. Watch the video “Saturnz Barz” below.
