The first official trailer for Universal's Despicable Me 3 has surfaced, featuring beloved antihero Gru facing off against an '80s-obsessed supervillain.

Balthazar Bratt is a former child star who’s grown up to become obsessed with the character he played 30 years ago, which goes some way to explaining why he's kitted out in head-to-toe Prince-esque purple get up. According to Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri, Bratt was apparently “driven to supervillainy as a result of the abrupt cancelation of his TV series when he hit puberty."

Additionally, Gru's twin-brother Dru, who is described as "the nice and caring polar opposite" of his all-black wearing sibling, will also be introduced to the series.

Balthazar Bratt will be voiced by South Park's Trey Parker, while Steve Carrell reprises his role as Gru.

Check out the clip above, and look for the movie releasing June 30, 2017.

Also arriving next summer is Dunkirk, and if the first trailer is anything to go by, it's going to be epic.
