Model: Huarache E.D.G.E.
Key Features: The sneaker borrows design features from the 1991 Air Huarache Run, updating that sneaker’s bootie fit with what Nike calls a FOAM FIT system, meaning the foot sits directly on the foam rather than a sock liner. A chunky sole and Heron Preston’s signature signage on the heel and toe box complete the look.
Release Date: February 1 (US) and April 15 (Europe)
Price: $135 / €135 / £118
Editor’s Notes: After Heron Preston’s first ever Nike sneaker collaboration dropped in the US on February 1, both colorways are coming to Europe’s Nike SNEAKRS app on April 15. The designer, who previously worked on a pair of Nike Tailwind sunglasses, has reworked the Huarache E.D.G.E.
Preston’s first Nike sneaker debuted during his runway show in Paris, which included a number of other footwear styles, including a collaboration with UGG.
“I’m all about telling stories,” said Preston at the time of the US release. “Having worked at Nike and understanding the full breadth of product categories the brand has to offer, I wanted to be the person to take on the challenge of identifying and celebrating new stuff.”
The sneaker is available in black with hits of color and white with red and yellow detailing.
In addition to the Huarache E.D.G.E., Preston also worked with Nike on a football-related apparel and accessories collection, harkening back to his days as a wide receiver in high school. There is no word on whether the apparel collection will also be part of the European sneaker drop.
The range included a hoodie in a neoprene-like material with short sleeves, a black or white jersey designed to be layered with a long-sleeve T-shirt, Nike Superbad 4.0 receiver gloves, a quarterback muff (hand warmer), and a chrome-dipped football. Check out the collection below.
