To say a hoodie is a wardrobe essential is an understatement.
You can find hoodies literally everywhere: from the streetwear start-up that your friend is promoting down the road to the Met Gala. A fallout from the merging of high fashion and streetwear that has come to define contemporary fashion is that the hoodie has only become more important.
While it might have been met with connotations of slobbishness and low fashion in previous generations, a hoodie today can easily fetch prices in the thousands of dollars and is by no means only casual wear — it has been on the haute couture runway after all.
