Instagram Stories is now twice as popular as Snapchat, CNN reports. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, announced last week that the feature now has more than 400 million daily users, up from 250 million last year.

That figure means that Stories has steamed ahead of Snapchat, which had 191 million active users per day in the last quarter.

Instagram's growth could be down to its steady rollout of new features. In the last few weeks alone, the image sharing platform has dropped IGTV, a new app for watching long-form vertical videos; four-way video chat; a new Stories music feature; and the "you're all caught up" update, which lets users know when they've viewed all new posts from the last 48 hours.

Are you surprised that Instagram Stories is more popular than Snapchat? Sound off in the comments.
