This week we get our first look at director David M. Rosenthal's long-awaited Jacob's Ladder remake starring Michael Ealy, Jesse Williams, Nicole Beharie, and Karla Souza. The anticipated film was first announced in 2013 and shot in 2016, and is finally being released this month.

A reimagining of Adrian Lyne's 1990 psychological thriller starring Tim Robbins, 2019's Jacob's Ladder centers around a plot that is noticeably different from the original movie. In Rosenthal's version, Jacob Singer returns home from Afghanistan after his brother dies in combat. Shortly thereafter, Singer realizes that his sibling is alive, but "life is not what it seems," as the official synopsis puts it.

Writers Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorpe have reportedly implemented a new twist to the film, which premieres on DISH this month. You can then look forward to David M. Rosenthal's Jacob's Ladder coming to theaters August 23.
