The last time Hollywood shined a light on the bloody fur trade, it resulted in The Revenant - which scored Academy Award wins for both Leonardo DiCaprio and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Netflix's latest drama, Frontier, seems to be cut from a similar cloth as the film.

The series stars Game of Thrones alum, Jason Momoa, as Declan Harp, a part-Irish, part-Native American outlaw, who experiences the bloody realities of the 18th century Canadian fur trade.

The show's first trailer suggests major conflict between he and his former employer, Hudson’s Bay Company.

Frontier premieres on January 20 and has already been picked up for a second season.
