Editor’s Notes: Created by Nike designer Bruce Kilgore, the Air Force 1 first hit the scene (or better yet, the basketball court) in 1982. First made available solely as a high-top, the kicks featured a hiking boot-inspired upper, as well as a chunky sole with Nike Air cushioning — the first time this tech was used on a basketball shoe.
The OG 1982 colorway came in a white and grey palette, with more colorful models and lower cuts to follow. Now, sneakerheads with a penchant for retro dunks can get hold of something close to the original without having to scour through vintage sneaker stores, with a recent general release from the Swoosh that may just bear the closest resemblance yet.
The Nike Air Force 1 High ’07 arrives with almost the same features as the 1982 original model — from the high-top and white/grey coloring right down to the (admittedly modified) Nike Air cushioning and non-marking rubber cupsole.
