Nike's Answer to the Winter Boot? A Rugged Basketball Shoe
At some point, someone at Jordan decided that the Air Jordan needed to get itself a winter job. And honestly, we're not mad about it. The Jordan 6 Rings has always been a bit of a greatest-hits situation, borrowing details from the six sneakers MJ wore during his championship-winning seasons. Now, it's getting the cold-weather treatment.
The Jordan Winterized 6 Rings is what happens when an Air Jordan and a winter boot meet somewhere in the middle.
The familiar basketball-inspired shape is still there, but chunky tread and boot-style lacing give it a considerably tougher disposition. This particular version also comes in a rather punchy mix of blue, grey, and hits of yellow, just in case the boot-like silhouette wasn't already doing enough.
Winter footwear has a habit of disappearing into a sea of black and brown, so it's nice to see something with a little more life to it. The bright accents give the otherwise rugged design some much-needed personality, without making it feel like you've raided the kids' shoe section.
It's certainly not the sort of Jordan you'd wear to recreate MJ's greatest moments on the court. But that's kind of the fun of it. Consider it an off-duty Jordan, ready for whatever winter has planned.
The Jordan Winterized 6 Rings is available for $200 on Nike's website now.
