Editor’s Notes: Having kicked off last week, the Global Climate Strike has mobilized millions of people, in over 150 countries and in cities including New York, Berlin, Paris, and more, to leave work or school to strike for the sake of the planet. The movement has found support from within the fashion industry too, with brands marking the week with special drops. Case in point: Noon Goons.
The Californian label recently announced "Plant Protection," a project aimed at raising awareness around fashion's impact on the planet. The project sees the drop of limited edition pieces, with 100% of the profit going towards helping young designers implement more eco-friendly shipping methods.
When shipping products, brands tend to use single-use poly bags to wrap each piece, even when shipping bulk orders. "This plastic wrap is almost always thoughtlessly discarded," says Noon Goons founder Kurt Narmore, "clogging landfills, increasing CO2 emissions, and most notably, ending up on our local beaches and mountains.”
With the goal of fully switching to bio-degradable poly bags, Noon Goons' first drop from the project comprises a graphic tee. Available in mint green, black, white, and pink colorways, the new tees retail for $59 and are available to shop now at the Noon Goons website, with select retailers such as MR PORTER and DSM to follow with stock soon.
