Editor's Notes: As easy and unbothered as Noon Goons' oeuvre is, the brand isn't afraid of having a little fun. Retro inspiration frequently plays into the brand's California-conscious collections, though Spring/Summer 2022 takes cues from a more recent fashion era, one with less Cyndi Lauper and more Britney Spears.

As Lia McGarrigle, Highsnobiety Style Editor, said in a recent feature, Noon Goons founder Kurt Narmore "isn't making '70s- and '80s-inspired clothes because it's trendy; he's doing it because he's obsessed with the era."

But for SS22, Narmore is channeling Y2K energy and riffing on some circa-2000s staples.

It's all here, from futuristic typefaces to lite sportswear (snakeskin football jersey, anyone) to the oversized sweaters and studded belts that you'd see celebs rocking on Melrose back in the day.

Of course, there are some retro computer graphics! Of course, there's a deep pile fleece jacket!

Yes, the effect is very throwback, but Noon Goons isn't merely reissuing any Juicy Couture gear or Ruff Ryders merch.

The cuts are contemporary — no knee-length jerseys here — and even the more stylized pieces are grounded by Noon Goons' accessible trucker jackets and jeans. Some of the most covetable pieces — including a lush, embroidered leather jacket and generous velour rugby shirt — seamlessly update nostalgia into something fresh.
