Double Tap to Zoom

Not only did Bong Joon-ho's Parasite win Best Picture at the 2020 Academy Awards, but it also became the first foreign-language film to so, beating Ford v FerrariThe IrishmanJojo RabbitLittle WomenMarriage StoryOnce Upon a Time In ... Hollywood1917, and Joker.

That wasn't the only record the movie broke, however. Parasite is the first film since Slumdog Millionaire to take top honor without receiving any Oscars in the acting category. The film also made Bong the first filmmaker since Alejandro Iñarritu (2014, Birdman) to sweep the Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay categories. Bong also won Best International Film.

Unlike many of his Hollywood counterparts, the Korean director didn't take himself too seriously in his acceptance speeches, and Twitter's #BongHive is even more in love with him than it was already.

Watch Bong's Best Picture acceptance speech and see the reactions to the win below.
