After getting a teaser earlier this month, Pixar has released the first clip of Bao, a story about a dumpling that comes to life.
The film is billed as a heartwarming tale of a mother suffering from empty-nest syndrome, who gets a fresh chance at motherhood when the dumpling she cooks suddenly becomes sentient.
While we're sure the film will be adorable (it is a Pixar movie after all), we have to admit that food items coming to life is a disturbing thought.
Bao is directed Domee Shi, the first woman to direct a Pixar short. For the film, Shi drew on her Chinese-Canadian upbringing, saying: "I just wanted to create this magical, modern-day fairy tale, kind of like a Chinese Gingerbread Man story.”
Bao is set to play before The Incredibles 2, which arrives in theaters June 15. Watch the trailer above and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
