The Latest 'Ready Player One' Trailer Is Full of Pop Culture References

We got our first look at Steven Spielberg's adaptation of Ernie Cline's debut novel Ready Player One at Comic Con a few months ago, and now we're treated to a new trailer that gives us a better look inside the world crafted by the veteran filmmaker.

The film is set in 2045, where nearly everyone spends most of their time in a virtual reality system known as OASIS, created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday. When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world.

The hero of the film, Wade Watts, enters the contest and begins a treasure hunt that takes him through a universe full of current and past pop culture references, sure to set off a treasure hunt itself in the YouTube comments section.

Enjoy the trailer above and look for the film to release in theaters on March 30, 2018.
