What We’re Saying: Rick Owens’ iconic Geobasket is now available in an eye-catching (and that’s saying something when it comes to Geobaskets) translucent construction.

The pair, which is available through retailers such as SSENSE now, features a mixed-material upper that consists of translucent PVC, buffed leather lining, and a quilted padded collar. The model’s signature extended tongue is also semi-translucent, making this one of the more interesting variants of Rick Owens’ sneakers available.

The Rick Owens Geobasket was originally released in 2010 as an update to the Rick Owens Dunk (discontinued due to claims of copyright infringement by Nike). The Geobasket features a similar, exaggerated high-top silhouette, albeit with slight changes in the design details on the upper. The design came about as Rick Owens grew tired of sportswear sneakers wanted something that likened monster trucks for his feet (his words).

Rick Owens Geobaskets are usually constructed primarily of leather and come in black and/or white, though Owens has been known to mix it up from time to time. This translucent pair is definitely a looker, just make sure your feet don’t get too sweaty when you’re wearing them. Fogged up Geobaskets are not a look.
