At this point, there's a publicly recognized national day for everything, so why not find a way to celebrate nocturnal activity? In honor of Sleep Awareness Week, we've picked 20 items that will deepen the impact of all your snoozing (or lack thereof).

According to a review from the U.S. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, the changes in sleep culture have "produced massive social and economic shifts, and additionally has had marked public health consequences." Insufficient sleep is a global issue that has a huge impact on both the body and mind and can lead to a variety of physical, mental, and emotional disorders that disrupt your quality of life.

Some researchers view sleep deficiency as a public health epidemic despite the lack of recognition because it's a common problem across demographics. It can cause heightened anxiety, depression, frustration and irritability along with a decrease in motivation and attention. External problems that could arise include "cardiovascular morbidity, increased chances of diabetes mellitus, obesity, derailment of cognitive functions, vehicular accidents, and increased accidents at workplaces."

As far as we can tell, hibernation season is still in session, so we might as well make the most of it. While this guide won't cure all of your problems in bed, there is a high chance that it will make your slumber even cozier, and the effort is what counts the most. Scroll down for the full list.

Kin Euphorics Dream Light

This potion of adaptogens, nootropics, and botanics pairs perfectly with a hot latte of your choice before bed. I'm late to the party, but am currently having a mushroom moment, so I appreciate the inclusion of reishi here. There are also micro-doses of melatonin, L-theanine and passionflower to increase the production of GABA along with L-tryptophan to support serotonin levels and sleep regulation. Digestion was also taken into account with oak, clove, ginger, cinnamon, and chili. Bottom's up for deep sleep!

Remrise Peace of Mind

I highly recommend taking the quiz before placing an order so you can figure out which product will suit your needs, but this product has helped me tremendously. All of the formulas are plant-based that combine herbs, minerals, and amino acids from Chinese and Western medicine. I suffer from anxiety, and since I started using Peace of Mind about two weeks ago I have noticed that I have an easier time falling asleep. I even dream again which was very unexpected, but a pleasant surprise so I guess that it is positively impacting my state of mind during rest mode!

The Nue Co.Natural Sleep Kit | Magnesium Ease + Sleep Drops
$60
Buy at amazon

The Nue Co. Natural Sleep Kit

This is one of my favorite products to travel with, especially since I always have a difficult time falling asleep on planes (or any other moving vehicle). While the drops don't completely knock me out, they do help me reach a state where I can comfortably doze off for an hour or two on a long flight and feel less cranky when I'm awakened by the flight attendant for my complementary meal. Magnesium is proven to be an effective method for stress reduction and mood stabilization by increasing gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the body which aids in relaxation. I usually spritz this on my lower arms and feet every night for extra support.

I don't know why living in a shoe-free home is not the universal standard, but house shoes are an essential piece of that puzzle. Maybe slippers aren't your thing, but this pair is 100 percent worth copping. Not only is the washi fabric breathable, but the antibacterial kumazasa extract absorbs moisture and odors. Your feet have never known better.

BuffyCloud Queen Comforter

Buffy Cloud Comforter

I've been sleeping with this hypoallergenic comforter for about two years now, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I didn't know how much of a difference eucalyptus could make in terms of bedding material, but this is the fabric of the future. (I'm also a fan of their eucalyptus sheets.) The best part is that the comforter is light enough to be used all year round so you'll never want to take it off even during the summertime.
