Summer arrived early in Miami this year—or, on second thought, maybe it never ended. Regardless, thanks to international sneaker and streetwear retailer SNIPES and heritage fashion house MCM, we can all properly prepare as the long-awaited warm months finally begin to take effect in other areas outside of Vice City.
The signature “Make It Miami” collection is an unequivocal ode to the Floridian metropolis, using clothing as a means of tribute. The specialized capsule incorporates playful textures, vibrant aesthetics, and glittering embellishments to express the distinct aura only found within the South Beach limits. Bright-colored sets reflect the 305’s energetic essence, while bedazzled tees and a statement bomber jacket speak to its more elevated side.
A gradient-patterned button-down nods to the picturesque views observed across the coast, and a custom hot pink soccer kit serves as the perfect piece to commemorate the crossover. Finished with a series of collaborative leather backpacks and travel totes emblazoned with a striking Miami-ified logo, MCM X SNIPE’s inaugural offering speaks directly to the city’s ethos—bold flair mixed with thoughtful functionality, a perfect blend to take you straight from the beach to…well…wherever the night leads.
As the beginning of what seems to be a marquee partnership, both brands went all out to ensure the latest line received its rightful moment in Miami’s neon-tinted spotlight. Tapping into their high-profile network, the global powerhouses settled on platinum record producer and SNIPES Chief Creative Officer DJ Khaled to front for the new release. As someone with deep ties to the city and its rich culture, Khaled’s understanding of what it means to truly “Make It Miami” helped guide the capsule’s tone and visual language, giving away a few of his major keys to fashion along the way.
“Fashion, for me, is all about being confident in what you wear,” the charismatic musician shares, “You have to wear your greatness; let the people know who you are.”
But when working with someone like Khaled, things don’t just end after a quick photo-op. Channeling the famed “We The Best” mantra, SNIPES invited close friends across Europe to Dade County for a week of escapades, celebrating the collection’s launch in proper Miami fashion. Set inside the MCM x SNIPES El Portal mansion, the eclectic group of creators experienced the collection’s true spirit across four exciting days. From lux yacht rides just off the port to extravagant private dinners, the exclusive getaway brought the collab to life in a unique fashion, turning your average influencer trip into a full-on immersive excursion.
The trip culminated in a release party hosted at the WE THE BEST x SNIPES store, an event that saw familiar faces like rapper Swae Lee and popular personalities from around town descend on the flagship location. Highlighted by a visit from the man himself, Khaled arrived to welcome guests from far and wide with a personal preview of his favorite capsule pieces—complete with impromptu explanations for how each look can add a little South Florida zhuzh to your summer wardrobe.
Officially released on May 9, the initial entry from MCM x SNIPES is turning up the heat. And after adding this collaboration to the upcoming season’s rotation, we’ll all patiently await as the two staple brands head back to the design room and run it back for…another one (Anybody? Anybody?).
