Sony's PlayStation 2 turns 20 years old today. Launched on March 4, 2000, the PS2 paved the way for today's video game consoles and to this day remains the best-selling model of all time with over 157 million units sold.

At the time, the PlayStation 2 was the first console to boast features such as online gaming, high-definition graphics, and an integrated DVD player. By late 2013, the PS2 had almost 4,000 video games in its roster.

It also introduced now-cult games such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Tekken Tag Tournament, Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 4, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
