Scottish writer-director Armando Iannucci’s latest cinematic endeavor is The Death of Stalin, a darkly comical film about the days following Stalin’s collapse. Based on the comic book of the same title, the screenplay was a collaborative effort between Iannucci, David Schneider and Ian Martin.
With a star-studded cast including Steve Buscemi as Nikita Khrushchev, Jeffrey Tambour, Rupert Friend, Jason Issacs and many more, the trailer gives us a glimpse into a hilarious retelling of the internal political landscape of 1950s Soviet Russia.
Emmy award-winning and Oscar-nominated Armando Iannucci created the American HBO series Veep and has worked on many comedy shows for the BBC and Channel 4.
The Death of Stalin has been selected to be screened in the Platform section at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival and is scheduled for theatrical release in October 2017.
