The Whitaker Group’s PUMA Era Starts With a Echo (& New-Old Sneaker)
There's truly a first time for everything, even the Whitaker Group's debut collaboration with PUMA. It's hard to believe that after working with nearly every major sportswear brand, this is the retail group's first official PUMA linkup. But we're here. Finally.
For the pairing's first release, the Whitaker Group and PUMA will drop a collaborative Suede CODA sneaker dubbed "Echo Points." It's three vintage-style takes, featuring faded suede uppers, fuzzy shoelaces, and stitched Formstrips.
CODA is the official name of the Whitaker Group and PUMA partnership, which will actually span several drops and experiences. That means more sneakers and, judging by the July teaser, apparel.
CODA looks to function in the same manner as Whitaker and adidas' "Do Not Duplicate" project, essentially an ongoing series of exclusive sneaker releases. Even Social Status and A Ma Maniére, the Whitaker Group's brands, have done multiple collaborations with names like Nike and Jordan.
One and done just isn't the Whitaker way, it seems. They have a story to tell, and that takes time. So, sit back and enjoy the ride.
It's unknown what awaits down the line from the Whitaker Group and PUMA. But for now, they're delivering nice PUMA Suede sneakers.
They'll first launch via an EQL draw from August 10 to August 17. It will then get a wider release on August 21 on A Ma Maniére, APB, Social Status, and JAIDE's websites.
