Originally announced in March 2016, the auto-lacing HyperAdapt 1.0 sneaker is finally set to become available from the Nike SNEAKRS App in Europe (iOS / Android), along with a price-tag of $720.

The star of the HyperAdapt 1.0 is E.A.R.L. (electro-adaptive-reactive-lacing) technology, which allows the shoe to tighten and loosen using a small, lightweight motor built into the shoe's sole. While not many have had the chance to buy or even experience the sneaker's auto-lacing functionality, Nike and designer Tinker Hatfield are hoping to change that. We sat down with Tinker so he could break down the nuts and bolts of the sneaker, as well as provide some snippets of what the future holds for E.A.R.L. and the HyperAdapt 1.0 silhouette. Hatfield even speaks briefly on the HyperAdapt 2.0, and his plan to bring it to the NBA, before touching on Virgil Abloh's "The Ten" collection with Nike.
