Ahead of next month's premiere, 20th Century Fox has unleashed the first official clip from War for the Planet of the Apes. The aesthetic in turn acts as an introduction to Nova, the young human girl among apes who is more important than she may initially seem.

Played by Amiah Miller, Nova is defenseless and mute, as the character harkens back to the original Planet of the Apes film. Upon being taken under the care of a wise orangutan, Maurice, she is then reluctantly brought along on the apes' quest to defend their kind against what is left of humanity.

Press play above to get a better feel for the key character, as you can look forward to War for the Planet of the Apes landing in theaters July 14.
